Which is best

First of all all of the general discussion threads say c++. Second of all what is the best programming language to use to make an mmorpg like World of Warcraft.

I can't help you with that last part, I am sorry, but I am well aware of the fact that they all say C++, and I am going to take care of that right now.

I have only the vaguset clue of what a MMORPG is I believe is stands for Massively.Multiplayer.Online.Role.Playing.Game which is
ridiculous to say the least. Anyway you should use a language that you are most comfortable with. C++ would be my choice since it is what I am good at and I understand it, but then again C++ does not have any standard graphics and thngs like Allegro or SFML never work well for me =\. You may be able to get it working but I couldn't.
Your best bet would be to somehow use multiple languages(Java for the server, python for scripting , Tcl for UI's etc...) all tied togethor with C++ but I haven't the faintest idea on how to do that...(okay well I have some sort of idea but I have never tried it. )

You may be able to do it with Blitz (ask nighthawk for more details), but the problem is that you also need a server.

The most popular game programming language, including mmos, is C++. I am almost 100% sure that Runes of Magic and World of Warcraft where both programmed in this language, along with many other games.

My C++ teacher showed me a ping-pong game that one of her old students wrote with only the use of C++. I would post it here, but I don't have permission from the creator, so I am not going to.

of course you don't even need programming to make games, if you plan to enter a professional career in video game development (like me) programming is EXTREMELY essensial. Also, did you know the creator of minecraft has quite a lot of money thanks to minecraft, which was coded in Java. List of people who have played and registered and the list of people who have bought the game here: www.minecraft.net

Woah! Watch the spam buddy! (Just kidding!) Most of those people that sell video games are rich. It should be no suprise.

Than you're mistaken. Millions of people publish indie video games (minecraft is an indie video game, indie being not a professional company, still a professional game but, well, it's compilcated to explain, just google it) do not get their games noticed, and if so only a few people see it. Not only that but than the developers must hope that small handful of people buy it and recommend it to their friends, that's how games get popular.

Minecraft just so happened to be INSANELY popular, so popular that he has millions of people registering the game and buying the game. What's 17$ * 1000000? XD

I forget how to do scientific notation, so I would probably have done the same thing.

what that was just 1million! lol one million * 17 = 17 million! (The reason I did 17 is because the average price range minecraft has been all this time is 17, sometimes being 15 and sometimes being 20. I can't keep track of who bought the game when XD)

I was going to use that in my argument too if you refused, but you were smart enough to listen to me the second time.

So than I was like "Is it really this good?" downloaded it, short download btw, and it was!
