Like I said, I REALLY envy your schedule. I wish I could get home around that time. I just got home about a half-hour ago.Nighthawk0973 wrote:lol

The reason I wasn't online last nice is because my dad brought me an unexpected suprise.: Somebody he knows was throwing out their laptop because it is obsolete, and they wanted a new one. My dad asked them if he could have it, and now he has given it to me to keep. It is obsolete, so it doesn't sound that good, but to me, never having my own laptop, I am very excited.
So, to get to the point, I wasn't online last night very long because as soon as I finished with my homework, I went to work fdisking.

This is IE 8 on my old computer...
EDIT :BLARGH! Have to find computer.....
Also...you said that IE9 is painfully slow on Vista/XP. Do you mean that they made IE9 compatible with Windows XP now? Before I switched to Firefox, I tried installing IE9 on my computer, and here is what I got a message saying that "IE9 is not compatible with [Windows XP]."
Re: Web Browser Argument
your own laptop!!!! lucky. I swear though, when I'm older I'm gonna have a "den" with 2 windows computers, 1 mac (for iOS dev ;D) a laptop for on the go, and than I'll say, welp, gotta go to work, and I'll go to that room
That would be an epic job, developing games...

I wish you lied in that post. Although I am more of a Firefox guy, I really would like to try IE9, but I can't because I am using Windows XP.legolizard wrote:Yeah mistake on my part it only works on Win7/Vista D:
Re: Web Browser Argument
I wouldn't use that program. I've heard bad reviews about it. Firefox 5 got better than it XD

Me too. Most of the people don't like the fact that it isn't XP compatible, so they stopped using IE all together. :-) ;-)Nighthawk0973 wrote:I've heard bad reviews about it. XD
Re: Web Browser Argument
lol
Of course I'd ditch XP for win 7 any day. Doesn't mean I'll use IE again.
Looking back I realize how this all started: I mentioned that I always open a tab in IE and of course, that got DB all riled up, and than lego joined in on the fun ;p
I've noticed these forums are starting to die a bit when it comes to activity. That's because (don't ask me why, I forgot) all the posts on all the sub forums are marked read on mine, and since it's not marked unread I'm not replying. So that means me and DB aren't posting back and forth anymore
Could definately use new means of advertisement DB, Alice forums just aren't cutting it. I don't know what you'll do, but maybe we could make a thread and brainstorm ideas. I'm getting kinda lonely here....

Do you know what I think about advertising... "Advertising is legalized lying. "
Anway I belive that BEFORE we "advertise" we must first be more "on-track." For example, on the help with cin statment the thread went from cin >> to how David B. is not some crazy hacker.WHAT THE !@#$!!!! I like seeing how a conversation develops but seriously. -_-
On a unrealted note:
You know what would be a cool program to some how intergrate into a forum?
A curse word filter; don't know HTML or javascript though. D:

Advertising is something that I am currently working on. I've submitted the PLCF to every search engine I could find (Google included).legolizard wrote:Nighthawk0973 wrote:lol

Also, I can integrate a curse word filter, and I don't need any HTML or JavaScript to do it. My forum host has a feature that allows you to make one without HTML or JavaScript.
Re: Web Browser Argument
yeah, it probably just installs a script made in php.
Also, you should go onto other forums and tell people about it. Sure, getting google to index your pages is swell and all but... idk maybe I'll try something today.

I happened to come online just now, and I saw that the forum was being indexed by the Google & Bing bot.

You didn't get any ads at the top of the page? Hmm...interesting. Can you please post a screen shot? What web browser were you using when you didn't get any ads? (I know it is in your profile, but I always like to double-check.)Beachbum111111 wrote:I didn't get any ads.
Re: Web Browser Argument
So I was searching the Web and I found this website that underlines pretty much everything showing the strengths and weaknesses of all major web browsers. Yes it was made by Microsoft, so yeah there is problably a little bias, but I think it is still a very nice source of chock full good info, well info. that looks interesting at least(I have only a small idea on what most of it is. =\).

Re: Web Browser Argument
Based on what I could tell, all it is is just a listing of the strengths and weaknesses of different web browsers when it comes to HTML5.
Here is a fun little activity for you:
1.) go to http://html5test.com/
2.) make a post stating what web browser you were using when you did this, and post your score
3.) if possible, take a picture of the whole page with all of the extra stuff underneath the score, if that doesn't work, just copy it in
Here is what I got using the latest version of Firefox.
And although the copy and paste turned out badly, click on the spoiler, and reveal more details!
